Coast String Fiddlers (CSF)

Coast String Fiddlers

The Coast String Fiddlers play an international mix of traditional fiddle music, including Scottish, Appalachian, Shetland, and Finnish as well as compositions by Canadian Fiddlers and members of the group, some of which defy categorization! The energy of our fiddling is supported by piano, guitar, cello, bagpipes and highlighted with Highland and Cape Breton Step dancing.

The groups are under the musical direction of Holly Beckmyer, and CSF founder Michelle Bruce.

The CSF 3G group (the 3rd generation of CSF fiddlers) rehearses on Friday evenings at Roberts Creek Elementary School from 6:15 pm  – 7:30 pm. This group is suited for musicians who have been studying their instruments for at least 2 – 3 years.  Musicians should be comfortable learning by ear and playing tunes up to speed.

The CSF beginner group, the FiddleCats, rehearse on Friday evenings at Roberts Creek Elementary School from 5:30 – 6:00 pm. This group is suited to musicians who have played for 6 months-2 years. Students are encouraged to learn tunes by ear, and music and finger sheets are supplemented.
